An Electronic Payment Card (EPC) is an innovative way to distribute government payments to un-banked recipients. EBT has traditionally been the only way to distribute cash aid benefits to the un-banked. Now that a Visa branded platform is available for cash aid distribution many states and counties are looking for something more useful than EBT.
Direct Deposit of funds is by far the cheapest and most efficient method to distribute cash aid. The big obstacle to using direct deposit of course is most recipients cannot get a bank account. ETA accounts are available through participating banks; but, an ETA does not allow the account holder to do much more than draw funds out using an ATM card.
Wouldn’t it be better for your cash aid participants to get a fully branded Visa debit card that they can pay bills, transfer funds, and make purchases with? |
